Details of the Series
- In 1981 BBC began airing the first series of Willo the Wisp to a teatime audience just before the early evening news on BBC1. The audience figures for the children's animation series averaged nine million, which has never been surpassed. Nick Spargo's wonderful animation, brought to life by Kenneth Williams' wickedly voiced creatures living deep in Doyley Woods, became ingrained in a generation's psyche.
- 25 years later, Willo the Wisp launches on Playhouse Disney UK at 08.50, 17.55 and 19.00 on October 31st 2005.
The new second 2D animated series has all the familiar characters cleverly updated for the 21st Century. "Evil Edna is now a modern Digital television set and shoots around on a skateboard-like base which makes her much more imposing when she appears on the screen," says Bobbie Spargo, developer/director of the new series and daughter of the late Nick Spargo.
- And the spirit of Kenneth Williams' voice for Willo lives on. James Dreyfus has brilliantly voiced superbly witty scripts by Jamie Rix that will appeal to both young children and their parents.
